It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine L. Timsah, who passed away on April 2, 2026 at Leesburg, FL, surrounded by loved ones.
Catherine L. Timsah was born in Alexandria, VA to James E. Baker & Alice Clark-Baker. She worked as Home Healthcare Aide at Fairfax Nursing Center for ten years, assisting elderly with personal care, meals, and mobility. She subsequently took on the position of Custodial Manager, a role she held for 30 years. Catherine began her career at South Lake High School in Reston, Virginia, then moved to Orange County Public Schools in Florida, where she later Retired.
Catherine was admired by her family, friends, and community. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and Nana who enjoyed cooking, spending time together, and celebrating holidays. Her laughter and joyful spirit will be remembered always.
Catherine L. Timsah is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. Speed, and her son, Russell G. Speed of Manassas, VA. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice Baker of Woodbridge, VA, and Ellen Baker of Dumfries, VA, as well as one brother, Raymond Baker of Triangle, VA. Additionally, she leaves behind nieces, Peggy Baker of Montclair, VA, Brandy Baker of Woodbridge, VA, Raykea Greenhow-Baker of Woodbridge, VA; the following Nephews, Mustafa Baker of Woodbridge, VA, James Baker III of Woodbridge, VA, Sylvester Baker of Woodbridge, VA, Raymond Baker, JR of Dale City, VA. Her great nieces include Breana Baker and Brittany N. Witcher of Virginia, and her great nephews are Brandon Baker and Malik Baker of Virginia.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alicia Speed, Keshia Speed, Jasmine (Helena) Speed-Kinnitt, Brittany Ewell, and Kharika Spencer. Her great-grandchildren include Mario Jose Fernandez Jr., Nyeema Bruce-Cobbold, and Nathaniel (NJ) Bruce-Cobbold. Additionally, she leaves behind one great grandchild, Kameron Spencer.
She was predeceased by her father, James E. Baker; her mother, Alice C. Baker; and her brother, James Baker.
Today, it is a privilege to commemorate Catherine L. Timsah—a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend—whose steadfast kindness and role as a source of strength were defining attributes within the family.
We will remember Catherine's love and kindness with enduring appreciation. Her positive influence continues to guide us each day, and her presence remains in our thoughts.
Catherine L. Baker will be missed by those who knew her and valued her contributions.
