Charles Peter Barbaro (Chuck), 81, of The Villages, FL passed away on March 5, 2025. He was born June 20, 1943, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of Salvatore R. Barbaro and Josephine V. Barbaro. Chuck married Nancy D. Benson on August 21, 1965, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL.
Chuck graduated from St. Rita High School and the University of Illinois. He received both BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering with a strong minor in Electrical Engineering.
He was employed at Frasca Aviation (a manufacturer of flight simulators and training devices) in Champaign, IL for 13 years. During that employment he received his private pilot's license. He then was employed at John Deere Product Engineering Center in Waterloo, IA; John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, IL; and John Deere Corporate in Moline, IL, retiring in 2001. He continued working for 13 years as a contractor for eServ and Kelly Services providing design engineering services to a variety of industries.
Chuck was very active in his home parish of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL serving as a Lecturer, Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council, chaired the Building Committee and the construction of a new parish hall, and school board member. Retreats that he participated in were CHRP, RENEW, Cursillo and WATCH. After moving to The Villages, FL in 2014, Chuck and his wife became members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his wife Nancy of 59 years and his three children and seven grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Nancy, daughters, Diana (aka Chief) Barbaro of Brooklyn, NY; Angela (Bret) Staehling of Wildwood, MO; and son Michael (Erin) Barbaro of Columbia, MO. Grandchildren are Cole, Mia and Ella Staehling; Charlet and Rhys Barbaro; and Ava and Anthony Barbaro. Chuck's sisters include, Angeline Jedinak of Traverse City, MI; Anna Marie Sriver (Hal) of both Northfield, IL and The Villages, FL; and Debra Siwinski of The Villages, FL.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood, FL. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL; St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL; or Alleman High School in Rock Island, IL.
