Obituary

Charles Kenneth Clayton Jr, also lovingly known as "Ken," age 80, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, in Largo Florida, surrounded by the love of family and the legacy of a life well lived. Born on December 6, 1945, in Riverside, California, Ken lived a life defined by service, strength, love, and unwavering dedication to the people he cared for most.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beatrice Clayton; and his brother, Dennis.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Melinda Ann Clayton (Schaaf); and his loving children, Lisa Christine Perdomo, Linn Edward Bostick II (Ann), and Rene Ann Martin. He was a proud and deeply involved grandfather to Zachary Bostick (Christina), Michael Martin (Karissa), Kris Martin, Ashley Martin, Thomas Martin, Ian Perdomo, Caleb Perdomo, and Eros Perdomo. His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren, Everett and Ambrose Martin, Aria Martin, Rya and Kaelyn Bostick.

Ken is also survived by his brother, Brian Clayton (Pamela); nephews, Joseph and Brian Lee Martin, and Martin Clayton of Germany; and brother-in-law, Thomas Schaaf of Dayton, Ohio.

A proud veteran of the United States Army and a Vietnam veteran, Ken served his country with honor and courage. His military service was a source of pride throughout his life, and he remained affiliated with the American Legion. Following his service, dedicated many years to the US post office before retirement. Over the years, he also pursued several business ventures, always striving to create opportunities and provide for those he loved.

Ken graduated from Fairmont High School in 1964, where he played football, and later attended Wright State University and Athens in Alabama. Education was something he deeply valued. He constantly encouraged his family to pursue knowledge, work hard, save their money, and create better lives for themselves. More than anything, he believed family should stay connected and support one another through every season of life.

For nearly 70 years, Dayton, Ohio was home, before Ken spent the last decade enjoying life in Largo, Florida. Whether watching Nascar, golfing, cheering on football teams, or simply spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ken found joy in the moments that brought family together.

To know Ken was to know loyalty, generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength. He was the glue that held the family together - the steady voice, the helping hand, the provider, the protector, and the encourager. He gave more than anyone ever asked of him and loved far beyond words. His presence made people feel safe, supported, and valued.

Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, his lessons, laughter, sacrifices, and love will continue to guide the family he built and cherished so deeply.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all relatives, friends, neighbors, caregivers, veterans, and loved ones who have offered support, prayers, kindness, and comfort during this difficult time. Your love and compassion will never be forgotten.

"His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."
