Charles Griffy
It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Charles Griffy who was born May 1, 1933 in Marston, Missouri and passed away on October 1, 2021 in Edgewater, Florida. He was a sweet, joyful, loving, funny, faithful, kind, husband, father, brother, and friend. He lived in several states before moving to Florida in 1979. He was a dreamer and problem solver who worked with teams to send spacecraft to Mars at JPL and launch space shuttles from the Kennedy Space Center. He graduated from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California and worked the majority of his career in the space industry, retiring from Boeing. He also worked tirelessly to ensure the best possible education for his two crazy kids. He loved all of his grandkids, kids, and his wife of 62 years with his whole heart. He served in the Air Force believing fully in sacrifice. He and his wife Felicia were engaged in every community they were a part of to help, serve, and make things better by loving the people around them and always extending grace. He was President of a School Board for a Christian School in California and also a Deacon at a church in Azusa, California. He contributed to the Mount Dora Children's Home, the VFW, and the American Legion. Charles loved animals and he played semi-pro baseball in his youth. He was a faithful devoted Christian and he showed this with his boundless love for everyone he met and even those he hadn't met – yet. He brought laughter into every room he entered. All of his siblings and parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Felicia Griffy, his son Walter (Bill) Griffy of Zellwood, Florida, his daughter Charla Griffy-Brown and her husband Glen Brown of Woodinville, WA and five grandchildren: Chris and Joshua Dunfee of Orlando, Michael Griffy of Zellwood, and Sienna and Adam Brown of Woodinville Washington as well as a number of nieces and nephews throughout the US
