Charles L. Jackson (Chuck) passed away on May 28, 2025, in Ocala, Florida, with his three daughters by his side.

Chuck was born on February 7, 1945 in Boise, Idaho, the first child of Jefferson and Amanda Jackson. He was raised in South Tampa, Florida. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving from 1965 to 1969, which included a deployment to Vietnam where he was a helicopter gunner often serving on medevac missions. In 1970, after completing his military service, Chuck began his distinguished 27-year career as a Fairfax County Police Officer. Rising to the rank of Captain, some of his favorite assignments included commanding the Fairfax County Helicopter unit, the SWAT team, and the McLean District Police Station. He also spent many years as the night duty officer, one of his most rewarding assignments. Known affectionately as "Action Jackson," he was proud to be a first responder, the epitome of bravery, and often said he loved being a police officer so much he would have done it for free.

Beyond his distinguished career, Chuck was a devoted family man with a sharp wit and a heart full of kindness. Chuck enjoyed fishing and tinkering with cars and motorcycles. For him, it was about the journey, not the outcome, so most of his projects never quite ran. He loved animals and served as a temporary home for many pets found via his job; his wife generally insisted they move along, making it an informal rescue operation. He was the ultimate prankster and delighted in teasing his grandkids. Chuck never forgot a birthday and sent special treats for occasions. He was the unofficial family weatherman, always making sure each family member was prepared for whatever storm or weather event was headed their way. Chuck wasn't one for flowery words, preferring to show his affection through playful jabs and thoughtful gestures, like sweet dreams treats when he wasn't there for bedtime. He famously greeted his grandkids by asking if they were hungry, then mischievously instructed them to find some mud in the backyard for a "mud pie." Despite his reserved nature, his love was always clear, especially in the consistent "bye, Love" that concluded every call with his daughters.

Chuck always wanted to return to his home state of Florida and spent his final years in The Villages where he continued to pursue his passion for his family history and ancestry.

Chuck is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Jackson, and their three daughters, Kelly (Dave) Adams, twin daughters Shannon (Jeff) D'Avignon and Shayne (Pat) Ainsworth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kendall, Cole, Annabelle, Nick, Carly, Tyler, Amanda, and Megan; his great-grandchildren, Griz and Beck; his longtime partner, Andrea Moss, and her daughter Ashley Smith; and his sister, Joyce Jackson.
