Dr. Charles Paul Joy

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles P. Joy, Sr. announces his passing on January 18, 2018 at SHANDS Hospital in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 83.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of almost 60 years, Jo Ann, his children Jody (Bill), Polly (Patrick), Chip (Lori), five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, his sister Shirley Violante and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Joy.

A longtime resident of Waterbury, Charles graduated Crosby High School in 1953. He earned many degrees including his PhD from Northwestern University in 1975.

He was a proud member of The American Legion, Elks Lodge and Sacred Heart Church in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Charles enjoyed many European travels with his wife and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
