IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Keith"
Perrin
December 25, 1953 – May 29, 2025
Our beloved Keith Perrin ended his journey on earth and entered into Heaven on May 29, 2025. His passing was sudden and the family has consolation in knowing he did not suffer. We are comforted in the assurance he was welcomed into the Kingdom of our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Charles "Keith" Perrin was born on December 25, 1953 in Jennings, LA to Velta and Virgil (deceased) Perrin and spent his entire youth in Jennings, a member of First Baptist Church where he created fond memories of childhood friends from Jennings High School and acquired his tall-tales of being band director. Keith married the love of his life, Karen Arnold on January 3, 2004. Keith and Karen found each other after their own individual walks through life's trials, coming together to renew their faith and build a home of imperfect, yet unconditional love. They enjoyed a life of adventure, especially RVing, spending time at their cabin, boating, fishing, raising two children and quiet evenings at home. In the words of their nephew, "seeing the two of you together was great to know you both found each other."
As a career police officer (Jennings, LA and Cape Coral, FL police departments) Keith impacted the lives of many young officers by being vested in teaching them to have courage. His key mantras being "do your job" and "trust but verify." One of his former young officers described him as a beacon of hope and mentor to many. During Keith's police career he served as the President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 33 (Cape Coral) and Chairman of Florida Labor Council Inc. The last four years he was Treasurer of the Fraternal Order of Police District 3, during which time he modernized the treasury to fit current times.
During his life on earth, Keith touched the lives and was involved in the raising of six children – three daughters and three sons. Surviving Keith are his treasured daughters, Rachel Monceaux and Christy (Randy, deceased) Stevens; much loved step-sons, Kyle (Rachel) McCage and Luke (Tugba) McCage with whom he enjoyed repartee on discussions of facts and science and his "later in life" children with whom he shared parenting with Karen – beloved son and daughter, Isaiah Thornton and Brittney Thornton. In the 13 years he had to relive fatherhood with Isaiah and Brittney, he was devoted to sharing his love for God, fishing, guns, being on the water, honoring your parents and working hard. The legacy he left to all his children is a belief in Jesus Christ, a character of authenticity, unconditional love, the importance of respecting our freedom and the belief life is to be enjoyed balanced with a responsibility to care for others. Keith believed in serving people, especially the homeless as he carried Bibles and new tennis shoes around in the back of his truck to distribute. He was not afraid of sharing the gospel and he had no fear of dying. He was a defender of many. Keith was also a devoted grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Gabrielle Sellers, whom he adored and delighted in their time together. In addition, he had the joy of recently meeting his newest grandson, Logan (Kyle) and his oldest grandson Nolan (Luke). A little sprite of joy in his life of the past six years was his great-niece, Violet (Clay Harville) who often spent weekends at his and Karen's home. He had just ordered new guitar picks for Violet and told her he wanted to teach her on his guitar and they were able to share their first lesson together before his passing. He loved his music and wanted to share it with Violet by stating his desire to enroll her in piano classes.
In the words of many friends Keith epitomized the characteristics of intelligence, quick-wit and was a veritable story-teller. He was a loving and indomitable force who will be missed tremendously. Surviving Keith is his wife Karen Arnold, his mother and children listed above, his sister, Jackie (Robert) Broussard, his brother Don (Amy) Perrin, his father-in-law Max M. House, his sister-in-laws Susan (Bill) Harville and Nancy (recently deceased, following Keith to Heaven) and many extended family members whom he loved.
A Memorial Service for Keith will be held August 2 at 10:00am in the Sanctuary at McGregor Baptist Church 3750 Colonial Blvd Fort Myers, FL 33966. A Reception will follow at McGregor until 2:00pm. Keith, Karen, Isaiah and Brittney were members of McGregor Baptist and Keith was active on the security team.
In lieu of flowers, Keith made it known in his Will to please consider donating to Into the Jordan Ministries, Inc. 2701 Cleveland Ave Ste 160 Fort Myers, FL 33901 EIN 46-2364693.
