Obituary

Charles Randell (Randy) Duncan passed away peacefully at home on May 31 st , 2025. Randy was born in Fork Mountain, Tennessee on December 7 th , 1939, to Lynos Duncan and Lorine (McGee) Duncan. Randy grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Fulton High School, Knoxville. He attended college classes at the University of Tennessee, which ignited his lifetime love of the Vols. Randy adored where he came from and instilled his love of Knoxville in his daughter and grandchildren.

Randy married Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Sutherland on December 8 th , 1963. Betty and Randy enjoyed 58 years of marriage living in many places along the east coast, most notably Gatlinburg, Tennessee and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Randy enjoyed visiting his home in the mountains during the summer months and returning home to his family at the beach in the winter months.

Randy joined the Airforce reserves and became a Staff Sergeant. At age 17 Randy began working at Capital Airlines, which would later become United Airlines, at which Randy was a successful sales manager. He would retire after 40 years with the company and would go on to work in banking and real estate.

Randy, in contrast to his loving wife, enjoyed quiet days at home reading, playing sudoku, watching the Vols, and sitting on the back porch. When he did venture out, he enjoyed visiting Blackbeard's for raw oysters. Randy had a lifelong love of Elvis and shared his love for the King's music with his family. His family encourages you to listen to Randy's favorite Elvis song, "An American Trilogy" in memoriam.

Randy is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Duncan. He is survived by his daughter, Vandy Duncan Moore; his son-in-law Russ Moore; and his granddaughters Parker and Addisyn Moore, all of New Smyrna Beach. Randy loved supporting his grandchildren in the many adventures and opportunities they pursued. In addition, Randy greatly valued philanthropy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Florida Pointer Rescue as Randy enjoyed sitting on the back porch and watching the family dogs.
