Obituary

Charlotte Ann Lavery, 82, of The Villages, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2025. She surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 2, 1943, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, Charlotte lived a life centered on family, kindness, and devotion to those she loved. She grew up in the small town of Prattsburgh, NY - the one place she was always most at home.

Charlotte was the beloved wife of the late David Leo Lavery. Together they shared many years of love, partnership, and cherished memories. She worked as a secretary in the medical field, where her dedication, professionalism, and caring nature touched the lives of many. Charlotte earned an Associate of Arts degree from Corning Community College, a reflection of her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.

Charlotte moved to Central Florida in 2006 and made her home in The Villages. Above all else, Charlotte treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating milestones, creating memories, and offering unwavering love and support. Her family was truly the center of her world. She was also a devoted animal lover who cared deeply for the many pets she welcomed into her life over the years.

One of Charlotte’s happiest places was Keuka Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes region. The beauty, peace, and treasured memories associated with the lake remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Melissa (Scott) Cunningham of Sacramento, California; Mark Richardson of Sanford, Florida; and Jessica Sheets of Longwood, Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Putnam of Ithaca, New York; her grandchildren, Kayla Abramowski, Hilary (Morgan) Russo, Ryan (Cassie) Richardson, MacKenzie Richardson, Amanda (Kacey) Sanders, Kevin (Chelon) Cunningham, CJ Sheets, and Lindsay Sheets; and her two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Charlotte will be remembered for her wonderfully sassy nature, loving heart, dedication to family, and the warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

She was buried alongside her husband on May 16, 2026, overlooking her beloved Keuka Lake. She is at peace knowing she is home.
