Obituary

Cheryl Jayne Henry, lovingly known as Cheri and CJ, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a loving family and many friends who will remember her fondly.

Cheryl was a 1978 graduate of Edgewater High School, where she was a majorette and flautist in the Lee Junior High School and Edgewater High School marching bands. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Flagler College in 1999. She dedicated part of her career to serving her community as an Emergency Communications Officer with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. She was also employed as a travel agent with Sabre.

Cheryl had a love for dancing and was especially passionate about West Coast Swing as an adult. She also enjoyed teaching adult ballroom dancing. As a teenager, she loved western horseback riding.

She was a member of Kaley Avenue Christian Church in Orlando and had been confirmed in the Episcopal Church at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Orlando. She was also a member of several Orange County Sheriff's Office employee groups.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, LuAnn Robin Henry, and her parents, Mercer Jackson Henry Sr. and Lora Shoup Henry.

She is survived by her siblings: Coleen Henry Gutierrez and brother-in-law Alvaro Gutierrez of Denton, MD; Heather Jo Thyne and brother-in-law Charles Thyne of Phenix City, AL; and Mercer Jackson Henry and sister-in-law Adlin Perez of Dania Beach, FL.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Martha Shepard of San Diego, CA; Jackson “Tony” Gutierrez of Menifee, CA; Jane Alice Roberts of Denton, MD; Luann Chamberlin of Opelika, AL; Kevin Charles Thyne of Mullica Hill, NJ; Allison Henry of Davie, FL; and Derek Henry of Dania Beach, FL.

Her grandnieces and grandnephews include Isabel and Alvaro Shepard of San Diego, CA; Jordan, Reid, and Christian Gutierrez of Menifee, CA; Alissa, John Thomas, Leela, Luke, and Zachary Roberts of Denton, MD; David M. III and Shelby Chamberlin of Opelika, AL; and Gabriella, Aubrey, and Kevin Daniel Thyne of Mullica Hill, NJ.

Cheryl will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
