Cheryl
McMahon
Sep 10, 1946 — Aug 2, 2026
Bonita Springs, Florida
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cheryl McMahon, who passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at the age of 79.
Originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, Cheryl lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Cheryl will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and exceptional cooking. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering family and friends around her table, where every meal was prepared with love and every guest was made to feel at home. Her greatest pride was her family, and the love she shared with them will remain her lasting legacy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert and Helen Barnes, and her brother, Robert Macy Barnes.
Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph McMahon, whose love, and partnership were the cornerstone of her life. She also leaves behind her loving daughters, Erin Johnson (Michael Johnson) and Lynda DiMenna (Raymond DiMenna), who will forever cherish her guidance, strength, and unconditional love.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Nicholas Johnson, Kayla DiMenna, and Raymond DiMenna III, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
She is also survived by her beloved sister and lifelong best friend, Elise Kennedy, as well as her brother, David Barnes, and her sister, Julie Rota, along with many cherished extended family members, in particular Peter Brereton, whom she loved like a son, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we are grateful for the many memories Cheryl leaves behind. Her compassion, grace, generosity, and enduring love touched countless lives and will continue to inspire those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Cheryl's memory to Avow Foundation, in honor of the compassionate hearts and gentle care provided by Avow Hospice of Naples, Florida during her final journey.

Cheryl will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
