Cheryl Elaine Novenski Stewart, 65, of New Smyrna Beach died on January 13, 2019. Born on June 12, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan, Cheryl moved to NSB as a child. She graduated from NSBHS in 1971 and married Donald K. Stewart III in September of 1972. She raised three children, then returned to school and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Math Education in 1991. She worked as a Math teacher for the next 19 years with the Volusia County School District and specifically, New Smyrna Beach Middle School, doing what she was always passionate about: teaching. She also taught adults returning to college with Daytona Beach Community College. Over the course of her life, she led Brownie scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H, and coached cheer. Cheryl loved spending time with her family and never said no to traveling to new places. She was a fighter that was never ready to give up on life. She was preceded in death by her spouse Donald, parents Violet and Chester Novenski, and brother Reginald Novenski; she is survived by her children Michelle, C. Noelle, Donald; SIL Jason, DIL Nikki; 7 grandchildren, E. Gabriel, Jadah, Abby, Joshua, Julio, Leia, and Ally; her sister, Margaret Lincoln; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Thor. Graveside services will be held at the Edgewater New Smyrna Cemetery on Friday, February 8 at 2:30pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 9 at 10am at the Coronado Civic Center in NSB. In honor of Cheryl, please bring school supplies to the Celebration of Life or please donate in her honor to the New Smyrna Beach CAPS program who provides college scholarships to our community students. She is loved and will be missed by many.
