Christine (Bennett) Courtwright, age 74, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026.

Born on May 17, 1951 in Waverly, NY to the late Arthur and Eleanor Bennett, Christine graduated from Cato-Meridian High School in 1970. She worked in the cancer research biostatistics group at Bristol Meyers in Syracuse, NY. Later, she became a driver’s education instructor, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and endeavored to make fun while graduating safe drivers.

After spending more than two decades in Pompey, NY with her husband James, they retired to The Villages, Florida. In retirement, she enjoyed golfing, weekly games of mahjong and train, beach combing and kayaking. She will be remembered most of all by friends for her tenacity in researching and cataloguing Bennett family genealogy, tracing records back to 17th-century ship manifests and the earliest cemeteries in the Danby, NY area.

Christine is survived by her beloved husband James; daughters Ronda Scott (Edward) and Keri Courtwright; brothers, Randy Bennett (Lorrie) and Arthur Bennett (Francine); and sister Liz Cuccinello (Joe); and her two great aunts Marilind “Lindy” Wolfe and Katherine “Skip” Brozowski (Bill). She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held on April 11, 2026 from noon to 2:00 pm at the Seabreeze Center in The Villages, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The History Center in Tompkins County where she spent countless hours pursuing family history.
