Obituary

Claire M. (Rushton) McDonald, 88, went to her Heavenly Home on October 1, 2020. She had been living at Ocala Health and Rehab in Ocala, FL. She was born in Brockton, MA to Thomas and Mildred (Shearing) Rushton. Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Peter) Mascaro of Monson, MA, Lori (Dan) Geer of Ocala, FL and one son, David (Cindy) McDonald of Mississauga Ontario; one brother, Ronald (Barbara) Rushton of Bridgewater, MA, four grandchildren and two great – grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Rushton Jr. of Ocala,FL; and two sisters, Phyllis Loring of Dartmouth, MA, Linda Lepsesty of St. Augustine, FL and her former husband of 33 years, Lewis McDonald Jr. She had several jobs later in life among them a hostess at Palm Cay and also a proofreader. She loved to write poetry and had many of them published including writing a book entitled Cockroach in the Cupboard and Other Buggy Poems. Claire also wrote articles for her community newsletter, interviewing various residents for a column she named 'Remembering'. Claire lived most of her life in New England (MA) and Ocala, FL. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, dancing, bowling, going to the beach, and tackling various projects at home. Claire had a quick wit and loved to laugh, as well as entertain and have friends over for "Gatherings". She was a wonderful mother, friend, daughter, wife and sister to those that knew her. Claire 's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the caring staff in the East wing memory care unit at Ocala Health and Rehab and at Superior Residences. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. A small family gathering will be at a later time.
