Clarence “Chris” Brown Whichard III, known affectionately as Chris, passed away on July 31, 2026, in The Villages, bringing to a close a life marked by dedication, achievement, and vibrant community engagement. Born on October 12, 1940, in Greenville, North Carolina, Chris touched the lives of many through his commitment to family, professional accomplishment, and a deep enjoyment of fellowship and recreation.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Linda F. Whichard, who was his partner in life and steadfast companion. His legacy continues through his devoted children: his son, Christopher Scott Whichard, and his daughter, Tamlin D. Whichard. Chris was especially proud of his granddaughter, Fahra Whichard (Josh) Nelson; and his great-grandson, Clarence Frederick Nelson, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Throughout his career, Chris exhibited a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit, owning ARD Research and contributing his talents to H and R Block in Orleans, Massachusetts as a franchisee. His professional endeavors were characterized by leadership, integrity, and an enduring commitment to excellence.

Beyond his working life, Chris was deeply involved in organizations that reflected his interests and passions. He attained the distinguished honor of serving as Grand Master of the Universal Lodge of the F. & A.M., a role he held with respect and dedication, epitomizing the values of brotherhood and service.

Chris’s personal pursuits were as impressive as his professional ones. He was a proud member of the Chequessett community, where he relished playing golf, tennis, and sailing. He was also a member at Ocean Edge Golf Club in Orleans, Massachusetts, forming friendships and memories that enriched his later years.

After moving to The Villages in 2008, Chris became an enthusiastic participant in numerous clubs and organizations. He was an active member of the Mustang Convertible Club, Hadley Social Club, Gourmet Club, Wine Tasting Club, and was a devoted member of Red Sox Nation—reflecting his zest for life, love of camaraderie, and appreciation for good company and good sport.

Chris will be fondly remembered for his wit, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His presence enriched every community he entered, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.
