Obituary

Cleona Crego Hyzer Parrish, born November 12, 1927, died May 29, 2024 with her husband at her side.

Cleona married Hershal Hyzer June 1950.  Hershal and Cleona have one son, Steve Hyzer, who currently lives in San Francisco, California.  Hershal a beef cattle farmer, and pulpwood cutter, was killed in a tragic accident in 1972. For the next 10 years, Cleona kept the farm, worked at the Tawas Hospital, fulfilling multiple roles and was an active community member.  Cleona was also very active at her church, Wilber Methodist Church.  When the church had a fire, Cleona was key in leading the charge to have the Church rebuilt.  In 1981, she married Don Parrish who she met and married at Wilber Methodist Church.  Increasing their family size by 5 grown stepchildren, they traveled frequently.  Don and Cleona have been happily married for 42 years. Cleona, loved by the members of her home church, Wilber Methodist Church, was always asked to sing when she was able to visit.  Her favorite song was Amazing Grace.  She was also the oldest living member of Wilber Methodist Church.   Cleona loved learning new things and took on being a realtor in Alpena Michigan.  She enjoyed singing, telling jokes and oil painting.  Cleona had a love for life that brightened any room she walked into.  She will be missed by her husband, Don Parrish, her son Steve, her five stepchildren, their spouses, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Baldwin Brothers of Port Charlotte is honored to serve the Parrish family.
