Clifford Edric Prudden Jr (Andy)

October 12, 1951 – July 5, 2026

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Andy Prudden in his 74th year.

Andy was the beloved husband and soul-mate to Annette (nee Beaudrie), cherished father to Matt (Amanda), Brook (Carey) and proud grandfather to Miss Madi, Cros and Little Miss Elliott.

He was born in Toronto, thereafter moving to the Quinte area in infancy. Belleville became his home where he and Annette raised their family. Having fifty-two years of love and happiness, sadly Andy passed on their fifty-second wedding anniversary.

Andy took immense pride in his two sons who will always be the greatest accomplishment in his life, always taking time for them. Their Dad’s influence lives on in each of them.

Andy was predeceased by his parents Dorothy (nee Paige) and Clifford Prudden. He was also predeceased by his eldest sister, Cynthia and her husband Ken Osborne who held a special place in his heart with Cynthia’s endless love for his family, and Ken, Andy’s brother-in-law, the big brother he never had. He is survived by four sisters, Linda (Rene) Jacob, Barbara, Sharon and Darlene (Irwin) Beaudrie.

Sharing a lifetime of love with Lois and Bruce Jones, Andy’s 2nd parents, Andy was blessed with Shelley (Jim) Parks, his forever friend.

Andy was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Gladys (nee Russett) and Clifford Beaudrie. He is survived by his sister-in-laws, Sandra Beaudrie, Penny (Noel) Fox and brother-in-law Warren Beaudrie.

Andy’s sincere kindness brought comfort to those around him, teaching his family always to remain humble and kind. He will be remembered as a self-taught man and someone who believed that learning, wherever it takes place was life’s greatest privilege.

Andy embraced the freedom and fun of his grandfather role, spending countless hours exploring and being there for them, at the same time watching his world turn pink and wearing yellow flats. Cros came to PopPop’s rescue with much needed masculinity, ensuring he was no longer playing shoe store with Miss Madi, his big sister. Cros taught his train skills with a promise to carry on the family name. With failing health, Bumpa was unable to enjoy snuggles and love with his Little Miss Elliott. He embraced his role with the same enthusiasm, positivity and boundless energy that he brought to all aspects of his life.

Determination led the way to Andy’s many accomplishments. The same sense of humor will be missed with his Christmas morning tradition of singing to his family, Blue ‘blue’ blue Christmas while waiting for his less than enthusiastic sons wishing it to be over. May Elvis and Andy remain in our hearts forever. Christmas will never be the same!

Andy found joy in the simple things in life, treating life as an adventure and pouring his heart and soul into every pursuit. Time spent in St. Thomas and Kelowna he enthusiastically enjoyed, eventually returning to Texas in failing health. He was forced into early retirement with his final journey taking us to Florida. It was here he received medical treatment in Miami, sadly he passed a short time after.

Excelling from youth, his creativity, intellect and imagination were evident. He was fearless and could always be counted upon for help. Family, friends and strangers alike would gravitate to tap into his insight and quiet wisdom. No obstacle was insurmountable and no hurdle was too high while bringing calm to a storm, always finding a silver lining in the darkest of clouds.

When travel and adventure were becoming increasingly difficult he began gardening, soon becoming the envy of the neighborhood with his lush gardens. He quickly learned to adhere to the Aggie’s planting guide. The Texas heat that he so dearly loved was not going to destroy his determination or can do attitude.

Andy studied music although always returned to the ice. His joy was demonstrated by his enthusiasm, smiles and laughter. He was proud to be one of the ‘square corner boys’ at The Memorial Arena, Belleville, Ontario. When setting his sights on Dallas, The Polar Ice boys in Grapevine, Texas, ‘the youngsters’ marveled at ‘Old School’s’ northern talent. He remained an epitome of sportsmanship, gentlemanly conduct with a high standard of play that were worthy of recognition. His Munich, Germany world cup tournament remained one of his hockey highlights, always wearing his #12 Jersey at center ice with pride, always with an affinity in believing his Habs would win another Stanley cup.

After studying drafting at Quinte Secondary and surveying at Loyalist College, his passion remained in the building trade. He was the proud owner of Andy Prudden Construction while in Belleville and Prudden Construction, LLC when in the Lone Star state. He was dedicated to mastering and advancing his trade. His Belleville land brought him solace as did his elk farm, however with heartbreak when realizing he was no longer able to fulfill his dream of returning to Canada to see his long term efforts come to fruition.

While our hearts are forever broken, we will find peace knowing that our Andy is at rest. His long battle was won not by the outcome, but the bravery and grace in which he fought, a deep and enduring love that connects to all who knew him, a love that will remain forever constant and strong, just as he was.

Our family will be different now but we will move forward and figure it out because our Andy taught his family how to live with strength and determination. He brought out the best in us.

Andy lived a long storied life, was kind hearted with an easygoing spirit. Through his quiet wisdom he taught our family the value of hard work and the importance of remaining loving, kind and humble. Our lives because of Andy were filled with love and laughter from a life well lived. To all the lives he touched treasure the memories, happy or sad, because memories will keep him in our hearts forever. Andy has definitely left his mark!

We have lost a unique and incredible person who will be greatly missed. So many memories stolen … So many hearts broken

In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

A church service and a Celebration of Life in Andy’s memory will be scheduled at a later date. We mourn his death, but celebrate his life and legacy.
