Craig Corry Maguire, age 76, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Winter Park, Florida.
Born September 29, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Craig was the son of Sara “Skippy” Corry Maguire and Furman Hunte Limeburner. He spent the first year of his life in Bryn Mawr before the tragic death of his father, who was killed by a drunk driver. His mother later married Raymer F. Maguire, Jr., and relocated to Orlando, Florida, where the Maguires owned and operated citrus groves dating back to one of Central Florida’s pioneer groves planted in 1878. The Maguire family first settled in Central Florida in 1885, establishing deep roots in the community Craig would call home for most of his life.
Though hailing from a family of lawyers, Craig was inspired to pursue medicine by his grandmother Charlotte Maguire, the first woman physician in Orlando. After graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, he went on to found Orlando Foot and Ankle Clinic in 1984. Under his leadership, it became, for a time, the largest privately owned podiatry practice in the United States. Craig found equal joy in being a podiatric surgeon and in running his own practice. Known for his compassion, he never turned away a patient due to inability to pay, once even accepting orchids as payment—a gesture that perfectly reflected his generous spirit. He also proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
Craig lived life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He was an avid sailor, pilot, angler, motorcycle and car enthusiast, and a collector of sometimes obscure and always fascinating objects, including antique fountain pens and paperweights. He shared a friendship and mentorship with Walter Phillips, son of Dr. Phillips, who allowed Craig to fly ultralights from his private runway - a pastime Craig willingly set aside upon the birth of his daughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sara “Skippy” Maguire and Raymer Maguire, Jr., and by former wife Trycia Maguire. He is survived by daughter Alice Maguire and his two grandchildren, who were a source of great pride and joy.
Craig will be remembered as a man generous of spirit, deeply devoted to his family, and the many passions that enriched his life.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to All Saints Episcopal Church.
