On the evening of June 22,2023 Craig (Smitty) passed away after a valiant fight from open heart surgery. He was 64 years young. He resided in Port Orange, Florida. Craig was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania to Lester and Marlene Smith. He spent most of his life in Bath, New York.

In 2002 Craig married the love of his life, Valerie (Brown) Smith. In 2016, he retired from the Town of Bath Highway Department after 30 years of service. He was a Machine Operator 3. He and Valerie packed up everything they had and started their new adventure in the Daytona Beach, Florida area.

Craig had a passion for cars, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, NASCAR, and pretty much anything that flies. In his retirement years he enjoyed sitting on his porch listening to air traffic control. He enjoyed lounging in his pool and spending time with his best "baby girl" Dyxy. Craig liked "hunting" for the best shells he could find when he went to the beach!

Although he enjoyed his retirement home in Florida, he did miss the hills around Bath, New York! Craig made many wonderful friends over the years. If you were his friend, that friendship was for life. He was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone! He loved to tell stories about everything and anything.  He was so good at finding common ground with just about anyone he met!

Craig is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sara Smith, both brothers-in-law; Robert "Bob" Brown and Patrick "Rick" Brown, and his Aunt Marcella Gallone. He is survived by his loving wife, his son Corey Smith in Lewiston, Michigan, daughter Carrie Smith in Bath, New York, son Trevor Brown in Bath, New York, brother Kenneth (Sheila) Smith Owasso, Oklahoma, sister Rhonda Smith in Bath, New York, father and mother-in-law Henry "Hub" and Patricia "Pat" Brown in Tavares, Florida, uncle Donald Gallone, Leesburg, Florida, Lifelong Best Friend and "brother" Stephen "Steve" Jones of Hammondsport, New York and many Nieces and Nephews.

In honor of his wishes there will not be a service. A Celebration of Life will be held in Bath, New York at the convenience of the family.
