C.L. died on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He died as gracefully as he lived his 75 years. He was a kind and generous soul, always a gentleman with a quick wit and willing spirit. C.L. was born in Clinton, Missouri on April 2nd,1941 to Greta Mae and Curtis Lee Fitzhugh. His home was in Osceola, Missouri, a small town in Southern Missouri. He spent his early days fishing at the pond on the family property and enjoying all the benefits a small boy has growing up in a small town. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri after college and worked for Securities Investment Company where he met his future wife, Karol. Soon after they were married in May, 1965, C.L went to work for TWA in the Finance/Accounting Department at 17th and Baltimore. He left TWA in 1979 to go to work for the Thomas D. Murphy Company in Red Oak, Iowa as the comptroller for this family owned calendar company. When the company was sold in 1985, C.L. and family moved back to Kansas City where he owned and operated Neely Manufacturing in Corydon. Iowa and Gemaco Playing Card Co. in Blue Springs, Missouri.
The focus of C.L's life was his family. He leaves his sons, Jason, Eric and Daniel along with his daughter, JoAnna and wife, Karol; three grandchildren; Madeline, Conaghan and Holden Fitzhugh. Other relatives include; son-in-law, John Oliveros and our two daughters-in-law Amy Higgins and Lark Oxler Fitzhug.
Mary Beth and Jerry Davis, their children; Blake, Father Jeremy and Maggie Davis, Mark Peterson, brother-in-law and nieces Nicki, Lisa and Rae Lee…His sister, Vick precedes him in death… Services for immediate family will be held later this month…in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
