Obituary

Curtis Lee Weigold of Cranston, Jamestown and Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was 78 years old. Curt was born on April 25, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Donald Weigold and Alice (Syverson) Farrell.

He served 4 years in the U. S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic followed by a 25 yr. career as a lineman for New England Telephone Co.

Curt was known and loved for his gentle smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He enjoyed spending his summers in Jamestown, RI with his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered as "Papa" to his grandchildren. Winters were spent in Ft. Myers FL.  As Maegan put it "his bones were "too old for the cold".   He had a love and passion for sailing from a very young age. His self-taught expert knowledge allowed him to enjoy many years of sailing throughout Narragansett Bay with family and friends. Winter sailing adventures exploring the British Virgin Islands and the Grenadines were a highlight for many years.  In his free time he loved to get creative in the kitchen, a passion which he passed on to his daughters. He particularly enjoyed oriental cuisine and became quite an expert. He was also a lover of Jazz music, especially the saxophone. He took much pleasure in the many memberships he held throughout his life and the friends he made along the way…

He is preceded in death by his father Donald, his mother Alice and his granddaughter Maegan Cecelia Harpool. Curt is survived by his wife, Cecelia R. (Beecher) Weigold of Jamestown,RI, his brother, Donald Weigold of Ft. Myers, FL, his two daughters, Kimberly Harpool of Jamestown, RI and Christine Rode of Ft. Myers, FL, as well as his five grandchildren, Curtis Salisbury, David Harpool, Michael Harpool, Daniel Harpool, Rachel Phillips and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
