Obituary
C ynthia Berch (affectionately known as C indy ) 77 , of Venice , Florida and Prospect , CT passed away peacefully on Thursday , February 6 , 2025.
B orn on November 14 , 194 7 , in Waterbury , CT , Cindy grew up in California and Middlebury, CT.
Cindy graduated from Warren F. Kaynor Technical School, Waterbury , CT and shortly thereafter began her long-term career as a licensed hairstylist . Later in life, Cindy al so had a successful marketing and sales career .
Cindy was cherished by many especially her husband of 55 years George Berch Jr. .
Their love for each other was evident in everything they did; camping, boating, traveling the world , cruis ing , going to the beach, cooking/baking, and spending quality party time with each other and family.
They lived in Prospect , CT most of their life before retiring to Venice, Florida.
For many years, Cindy was deeply involved in her community and loved being an active member of the community of Prospect , CT as well as being an active member of St. Anthony's Parish in Prospect, CT . Her faith provided strength throughout her life and comfort during her final days . Cindy's faith was very evident especially in the late 1970's at St. Anthony's Parish when she participated in many bible study groups, volunteered within CYO, and she initiated the Mother's Day Crowning of Blessed Mary indoors and outdoors of the St. Anthony's Parish . Cindy continued her faith throughout her life.
Many also knew Cindy as adventurous and the one to go to as the "restaurant, vacation , and fun party planner ". Cindy always also knew what was good t o watch on TV and also known as a personal "TV Guide" to many. In her downtime, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching her favorite TV shows, the Food Network , HGTV , Lifetime & Hallmark Channel movies . Cindy also enjoyed ; art/water painting, ceramics, singing along to music on the radio or karaoke, dancing, event/holiday party planning , cooking (she loved her recipes) , visiting many restaurants, heading to the movie theater, going to the beach especially to watch the boats and dolphins at the Jetty, taking photos very often/creating photo albums, and making memories that will forever be cherished.

Cindy i s survived by her beloved husband, George Berch Jr., her children: son Todd Berch (wife Laura Berch), daughter Marci (Berch) Nogueira (and Ani ello) . She was the proud grandmother of two grandchildren Justin Nogueira and Tyler Nogueira . She is also survived by her sister Chris Geruch (and Keith), her brother Scott Orencole (wife Mary), two siblings: Fra ncine (Cole) Martinez (husband Maurico), Billy Cole (and Letty ) . Cindy also had several beloved brother-in-laws , sister-in-laws , nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, friends , and extended family members who were touched by her love kindness and warmth.
Despite her physical challenges over the past few years, Cindy maintained her loving fun spirit, her special smile, her laughter, and her deep love for her family. One of Cindy ' s greatest joys in recent years was spending time with her family and friends but most of all spending time with her g randson s , Justin and Tyler . They spent countless hours together having fun and building many memories .
Cindy will be dearly missed by her husband, chil dren, grandchildren, siblings, family , and all of her friends. Cindy 's legacy of family, fun, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace .
On Sunday March 30 , 2025, Cindy's immediate family will be attending regular Sunday mass at 9 : 30 am , St. Anthony's Church Prospect, CT.
A celebration of life memorial in honor of Cindy for family and friends will be held Sunday March 30, 2025 from 1pm-5pm at the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Waterbury, 91 Golden Hill St, Waterbury, CT 06706 .
