Cynthia Renea Wemple McCambridge, known to most as Cyndi, was born in Weirton, West Virginia. She grew up with her parents, Lillian and Richard Wemple, her brothers, Joseph, Todd and Bruce, and her sister, Tiffani...“Baby,” or “boss baby,” as Mom loved to call her.
Cyndi was truly a force to be reckoned with. She was strong, smart, passionate, fiercely loyal, and one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She worked in real estate and property management, and anyone who knew her knew she believed in working hard. One of the lessons she taught us was, “No one cares, so work harder.” It may sound tough, but that was Mom. She taught us not to make excuses, to get back up, figure it out, and get it done.
For as tough and fierce as she could be, she also had the softest heart. She taught us from a very young age to help people, not because she sat us down and told us to, but because we watched her do it over and over again. If someone was hungry, she fed them. If they needed a shower or clean clothes, she didn’t hesitate. She wanted to see everyone flourish, and she put other people before herself right up until the day she passed she was taking care of others.
Family was everything to Mom. She didn’t need anything fancy. She was happiest just being with the people she loved, especially during the last few years. She was the loving mother of Cynterra, Kristen and Jimmy, the very proud grandmother of Logan, Alivia, Caitlyn, Jonah, Xander, Norah, Liam, Tyllor, AJ, and Angelina. She loved her family with everything she had.
Mom was Christmas. There is really no other way to say it. No matter how hard life got, somehow, some way, she made Christmas feel magical. We would sing and dance while hanging the lights outside, and her Christmas tree was always perfect and absolutely beautiful. She loved celebrating Jesus and made sure we knew that, even in our hardest moments, we could lean on Him. Mom didn’t talk about her faith as much as she lived it. Just like she taught us kindness by being kind, she showed us faith through the way she loved and cared for people.
She loved to dance, sing in the car, and spend time at the beach. She loved feeding the birds and watching her two little finches. Those simple, peaceful moments made her happy. She also loved what she called “smoking and joking.” That really was her hobby. She could sit outside talking and laughing for hours, usually with people gathered around her. She made friends everywhere she went. People may have started as strangers, but they usually didn’t stay that way for long.
People often called Mom sunshine or a bright light. Her energy was captivating. She was strong, loving, compassionate, funny, hardworking, and unforgettable. She was a friend to everyone lucky enough to know her, and her light will continue to live on in her siblings, her children, her grandchildren, and every person she helped, loved, encouraged, or welcomed into her life.
