IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dan
Crownhart
March 9, 1936 – March 23, 2023
Dan P. Crownhart, 87, of Leesburg Florida passed away on March 23, 2023 at Cornerstone Hospice. Dan was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Frederick and Miriam Crownhart. He was raised in the upstate region of New York, in North Syracuse, Brewerton, Watertown and Ogdensburg. He graduated from Syracuse University College of Forestry. He enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served until December 1962.
Dan had a long professional career in forestry as well as air conditioning manufacturing. His life-time hobby was airplanes. He built and flew models, watched every documentary and movie that he could find, went to fly-ins and read voraciously about airplanes. He was fascinated by WW1 and WW2 bombers and also, loved the sea-planes in Tavares.
He married his sweetheart, Martha Hulett, in January, 1958 in Ogdensburg, NY. Thus began the camp life brought to the family from Martha's Father and Grandfather. The family fondly refers to the cabin on the St. Lawrence River as "Happy Camp", being the summertime gathering place for family and friends.
Dan has been blessed with many friends in the Leesburg area who have shared dinners, friendship that knows no bounds and a profound compassion for others from every place on their journey of life. Dan's quiet and calm demeanor and friendly smile was a gift for so many who gifted him back with their love.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Deborah (Troy) Bussinger and Barbara (Tony) Marcum, his sister Alice DeLaurier, many nieces and nephews and was "Gramps" to all of his grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Martha, brother Carl, and daughter Susan.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, March 27 at 11:00 am in the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Chapel at 1350 East Burleigh Blvd, Tavares, FL, 32778.
