Obituary

Daniel Coyle, age 54, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away early Easter morning, April 5, 2026, after a two and a half year courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Austin, Minnesota, Dan grew up surrounded by family and lifelong friends. He graduated from Pacelli High School in 1989, where he participated in wrestling and cross country.
Dan had a natural gift for compassion and service. Early in his career, he worked with individuals with disabilities, an experience that ignited his passion for helping others. This calling led him to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy at Barry University in Miami, Florida, followed by the rigorous achievement of becoming a Certified Hand Therapist—a distinction that reflects both his expertise and dedication to his patients. He brought his skill and kindness to his work in skilled nursing facilities in Clearwater, Florida where he met and worked side by side with his wife, Tracy, and then continued on to Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, where he made a lasting impact on countless lives of his students, patients, and coworkers.
Above all, Dan’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Tracy, of 28 years, and a proud and deeply caring father to his two children, Natalie and Ryan. His love for them was unwavering and evident in everything he did.
Dan also found joy outside of work in other hobbies. He had a passion for pinball, a deep love of music, and a special connection to Austin native musician Martin Zellar, whose work inspired Dan to pick up the guitar himself. Music and pinball were constant sources of comfort and strength for Dan, especially in difficult times. He also cherished the personal connections and friendships which he built within the pinball community.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Coyle; his children, Natalie and Ryan Coyle of St Petersburg, Florida; his father, Ron Coyle; and step mother, Kathy Coyle of Austin, Minnesota; his brother, David Coyle of Tampa, Florida; his nephew, Caleb; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins who were fortunate to share in his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Coyle (Bellrichard); his uncle, Doug Bellrichard; and his grandparents.
Dan will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, work ethic, and the deep care he showed to everyone around him. He was a remarkable human being who loved to share his knowledge of various gifts and talents from Occupational Therapy with his students whom he supervised, pinball skills with friends and family, to teaching his children to ride bikes, play guitar, swim, invest in stocks, and to just enjoy the simple things in life like a sunset.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the love he gave so freely.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in his home state of Minnesota, and an informal meet up will occur for Florida friends to gather, dates to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, Dan’s family has chosen to ask that donations be made to Project Pinball - a non profit organization that dedicates and donates pinball machines to Children’s Hospitals and Ronald McDonald houses nationwide. This charity delivered and dedicated pinball machines in Dan’s name among many others so that families and children can find some respite and light in the darkness of their own journeys through illness. As Dan quoted on one plaque, “I’ve always found chasing the silver ball exhilarating and therapeutic. Enjoy the little things and welcome any distraction to help weather the storm.” - Daniel J Coyle
