Daniel
King
September 19, 1937 – September 24, 2019
Daniel T. King (Danny), 82 of Port Orange, Florida, went home to be with Jesus his savior surrounded by his family on September 24, 2019.
Danny was born on September 19, 1937 in Burlington, VT to Daniel Philip and Edith Mitiguy King. He graduated from Cathedral High School where he soon married the love of his life Gloria Beauchemin. He was a member of the Vermont Air National Guard Green Mountain Boys where he proudly served full time for many years as a Crew Chief for a variety of jet aircraft. Danny was always very proud of his Air Guard service where he made many lasting friendships.
After moving the family to South Burlington, Danny soon joined the South Burlington Jaycees where he eventually became President of the South Burlington chapter where he made many of his life-long friends and acquaintances. As an avid sports fan, Danny joined the South Burlington Rebel Booster Club where he also became President, further signifying his dedication and leadership to community service and helping of others. Danny became a member of the South Burlington Zoning board through one of his best friends, Fred Blais. Danny served for many years and was an integral part of the City of South Burlington's business and residential growth strategy. In addition to the many things on Danny's plate at any one time, he was involved in sports with his sons and coached their little league teams. Danny enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many hours on the lake with his father in law Ted Beauchemin. Danny and Gloria vacationed for many years to Rye, NH and Myrtle Beach, SC (where they spent many winters during their early retirement years).
Danny had a very successful career with Essex Beef Company where he was affectionally known as "dumb beef guy" (long story haha). Danny settled for a career with New York Life Insurance Company where he was one of their most successful agents for the VT office. Danny retired from New York Life with over 28 years of providing family financial planning services.
In 2011, he and Gloria moved to Port Orange, FL to be close with their best friends Peg and Dick Picard in retirement. He continued his journey in the Catholic faith being a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Minister to the sick. He provided endless dedication not only to his faith but also to his commitment to the Church and his family and friends. He was an extremely caring and passionate individual throughout his life span. No one went unnoticed when in need. He is a true testament of God's work by giving and going above and beyond for those who needed his support. During his passing, Danny was greeted and mourned by many amazing people that surrounded his life from his church, close family and countless friends.
Daniel T. King is survived by his wife, Gloria Beauchemin King (Port Orange, FL) of 60 years of marriage, sons Daniel Phillip King II and his wife Diane Story King (Palm Coast, FL) and Scott Michael King (Port Orange, FL).
