Obituary

Daniel O'Connell White, long-time resident of Winter Park, Florida, died on November 21, 2018 at the age of 75 of respiratory complications. Dan is survived by his wife Jane; children Daniel and wife Lise, Andrew and wife MC, and Sarah Jane and husband Will; grandchildren John, Maren, Eliza, Maddie, Ben, and Joanna; Brothers Walter and Tim and their spouses Mary and Kathleen; and numerous beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was very proud of his family. Dan was born on August 3, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Beulah and Walter White. Dan spent most of his youth in Texas and graduated from North Texas State University in Denton with a degree in government, after which he headed north to Harvard Law School. There he met his wife, Jane, and they married in 1968. Dan and Jane spent most of their married lives in Winter Park, Florida, where they raised their children Daniel, Andrew, and Sarah Jane. Dan supported his family as an "Honest Lawyer" with law firms and in private practice, practicing estate planning and real estate law. While living in Winter Park, Dan served on the boards of trustees for the Mayflower Retirement Home and Hospice of the Comforter. He also was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Winter Park. Dan and Jane celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August with all their children, children's spouses, and grandchildren in attendance. A kind and thoughtful person, Dan was always ready to give helpful advice, give a meaningful toast at a life event, or engage in stimulating conversation about many topics of interest. His family will remember him for his creativity, intellectual interest, and unwavering support of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on January 12, 2019 at the First Congregational Church of Winter Park, 225 S. Interlachen Avenue, Winter Park, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to JDRF ( jdrf.org ) for Type I diabetes research, or the First Congregational Church of Winter Park ( fccwp.org ).
