Darlene Frances
Baker
Mar 4, 1937 — Aug 30, 2026
The Villages
Darlene Frances Baker passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at Cornerstone Hospice Bella Casa on Sunday, August 30th, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 4, 1937 to Frank and Henrietta Bishop. Also preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Talsma.
A resident of Florida, paperwork supported, since 1981 after settling here with the love of her life, Jim. But her heart was destined to become a Floridian since her 1954 senior trip with the graduating class of Chicago Christian High School. Florida was her desired destination and she loved every minute of living here. She earned a wage in furniture sales and design, but her life gained value with the friendships and social contacts she so enjoyed. Many of her best memories and stories revolve around her years' experience with the wonderful people of the North Palm Beach Yacht Club. The Commodore's Ball was a cherished highlight for many years.
Darlene is survived by her daughter Teri and Jenette Richard, her grandaughter Yvonne (David) Carrasco, and great grandaughter Amelia Carrasco. She is preceded in death by her dear husband Jim, and far too many dear friends to mention. Rather than flowers, please take a moment, lift your glass, SEE the face of the person you toast and enjoy that moment in memory of her love and that beautiful head of hair.
