IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dave
Stone
February 8, 1954 – January 29, 2026
Celebration of Life
Eisenhower Recreation Center
Starts at 3:30 pm (Eastern time)
David Warren Stone, 71, of The Village of Osceola Hills, passed away on January 29, 2026 in The Villages, Florida. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 8, 1954, Dave was the son of Wayne R. and Virginia (Johnson) Stone and grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana, in 1972; earned his B.A. from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1976; and married his college sweetheart, Martha J. (Marty) Staff, in 1977.
Subsequent to his graduation from Kalamazoo College, Dave served as branch manager at First National Bank in Kalamazoo and as a Manager of Production & Inventory Control at Gast Manufacturing Company in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In 1989, he became a management consultant and went on to work for Price Waterhouse, KPMG Peat Marwick, and IBM Corporation prior to forming his own company, David Stone Consulting in 2003. He retired in 2014.
Dave was certified by the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS) in Production and Inventory Management; Integrated Resource Management; and Purchasing Management, and served as past-president, board member, and conference speaker for multiple chapters of the APICS society. Additionally, he served as a United Way speaker; adult leader/volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America; and fundraiser for The Parkinson’s Foundation. He was a hands-on parent to his two children.
A lover of worldwide travel, Dave worked in, or traveled to, more than 100 countries and all seven continents in his lifetime. He was a member of The Villages’ WWII History Club; Enneagram Study Group; and several Parkinson’s groups.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in 2015, Dave became very active within the Parkinson’s community – even lobbying for legislative reform on behalf of persons with Parkinson’s and their families in Washington, D.C. He was a major fundraiser for The Parkinson’s Foundation and participated each year in the Parkinson’s Foundation’s “Moving Day” walkathon at The Villages’ Polo Fields.
Dave was a great father, husband, provider and friend to all. He had honor and was slow to anger; had the ability to forgive easily; and, before PD took away his smile, he could light up a room with his laughter. He loved life to the fullest and will leave a hole in his family’s heart. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, he said “as a kind man.” Anyone who knew him would agree that he indeed achieved that goal.
In addition to his wife of almost 49 years, Marty Stone, Dave is survived by his sister, Patricia A. Hulon, of Mineral, Virginia; his children and their spouses, Charmian (Brian) Cuthbert of Scarborough, Maine, and Timothy (Lyndi) Stone of Bothell, Washington; and his two grandchildren, Paige and Gabriella Cuthbert of Scarborough.
Arrangements are being made by Baldwin Brothers of Wildwood. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:30 pm at the Eisenhower Recreation Center located at 3560 Buena Vista Blvd, in The Villages. Because Dave loved watching college football, the Celebration will be a “tailgate party” and attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s colors and jerseys.
Condolences may be sent to his family via 4453 Tuscaloosa Path, The Villages, FL 32163. Memorial gifts may be made in Dave’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or to the Parkinson Foundation’s “Moving Day” walkathon to be held here in The Villages on March 14, 2026.
