IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Johnson
September 17, 1952 – January 8, 2025
David Allen Johnson, age 72, passed away peacefully at home in Port Orange on January 8, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Dave is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda, his daughter Heather Muñoz (Christopher) of Pensacola, FL, daughter April McGuire (Matthew) of Melbourne, FL, and brother Larry Johnson of Port Orange, FL. He was a Grandpa to five: Tadd David, Kathryn, Everett, Adelaide, and Ruby.
He was born September 17, 1952 in Van Wert, OH to Glenn and Margaret Virginia Johnson. He graduated from Van Wert High School in 1970 and went on to play baseball on scholarship at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL where he earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting and was an active brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He was a bar owner, salesman, college scout, a dedicated travel ball coach and spent many years coaching the Spruce Creek High School Varsity softball team. During his life, he was a racecar driver, a car collector, and a pilot. He lived a life of adventure. He was the kind of man who had a dream and wasted no time making it his reality.
But first and foremost he was a family man. A wonderful husband, loving and active father, devoted son and brother, a great friend, and a mentor to many. His family and friends will always remember him for his sense of humor, his readiness to help, and the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the Spruce Creek High School Softball team, at 801 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL 32127.
