It is with deep sadness to announce the death of Dave Mattson (Red) on October 8, 2022. He was 82 years young. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Dave enjoyed many things in his life including, scuba-diving, collecting things (you never know you may need it), tinkering and creating things, such as his pig roaster, riding motorcycles, driving his Jaguar, roasting pigs, and helping his friends. He was a member of Abate, HOG, IBEW Union, and the Moose Lodge. He was an electrician for most of his career and spent most of it working at NIU. He also served in the military.

His recent home was in Ormond Beach, FL. He was born and raised in DeKalb, IL, and also lived in Rochelle, IL. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Michelle Mattson Laseman (Jason), Mandy (Scott) Carpenter, Andy (Heather) Peer, Jessica (Kyle) Kennedy, and grandchildren, Ali, Cedric, Brentyn, Emma, Matryk, Kyryk, Braxxly, Varyk, & Hailey. He was proceeded in death by his sister Mary Anna Reuter, and his parents Albin and Grace Mattson.

There will be a celebration of life on November 6th at 1230 p.m. at the Rochelle, IL Moose. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
