Obituary

With saddened hearts, we share the passing of David John Pendleton, a man whose humor, quick wit, and ability to make others laugh were among his greatest gifts.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy (Kampman) Pendleton and John Pendleton. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Alexander Frederick Pendleton, and Andrew Cyrus Michael Pendleton (Brittany Cardle), and by his cherished granddaughter, Alanna Alexandria Pendleton, who brought him endless joy.

Dave had a natural talent for connecting with people. He was a gifted salesman, a master joke-teller, and someone who could turn even an ordinary moment into something memorable. An entrepreneur at heart, he helped found Mayfield Group alongside his late uncle, Kenneth Kampman. After selling his division of the company, he moved from Colorado to Ocala, Florida, where he enjoyed a quieter pace of life while keeping his sense of humor close at hand.

In his later years, Dave faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout that journey, he was cared for with deep love and devotion — first by Alexander, and later by Andrew and Brittany — until hospice provided his final comfort.

Born into a large Catholic family in Cleveland, Ohio, Dave leaves behind his siblings: Susan Davet (Peter, dec.), Elaine Carter (Doug), Jane Ocepek (John, dec.), Joyce Hall (John), Mary Kay DeCapite, Mark Pendleton (Tami), and Michael Pendleton (Laura).

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends — including lifelong companions Pete Ciofani, Ron Tripodo, and many others he met during his years at Catholic Boys School and later in Colorado, all of whom shared a part of his life and many of his best laughs.

In keeping with his wishes, Dave’s ashes will be spread on his favorite golf course in Ohio later.
