David J Piersen, 77, of The Villages, Florida passed away at home on July 1, 2025. He was from Highland Park, Illinois and was a 1972 graduate of University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in Business Administration and Psychology. He lived for years in California working in the Savings and Loan industry and was very active in volunteer work. He taught English as a second language and volunteered with Homeboy Industries which is a nonprofit known for its work in rehabilitating gang members. He moved to The Villages in 2013 and really enjoyed swimming and riding motorcycles with different groups. One of his greatest joys was playing with his 2 dogs. He was the dear brother of Mary Lou (Joseph) Downey, and the late William (Charlotte) Piersen; and the late Joseph (Margery) Piersen and the loving uncle of Colleen Piersen (Russell McLaughlin), Gail Piersen (William Adler), Karen (Thomas) Wood, and the late Jonathan (Vanessa) Downey and the late Katherine Piersen.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Sumter County . https://hsspca.org/donate/
