David Alan Strassler was born on May 27, 1956, to parents Gerald and Pearl Strassler. He was raised in Broomall, Pennsylvania and graduated from Marple Newtown High School. David spent his childhood among neighbors and friends, many of whom remained lifelong companions.

David’s hobbies and interests included fishing, shopping, collecting, and sharing time and conversation with others. His friends and relatives knew him as curious and inquisitive, social, and acutely interested in topics such as mathematics, animals, and cuisine. He had a keen memory for specific details and dates and enjoyed joking with his friends.

David is pre-deceased by his parents, Gerald and Pearl, his younger brother, Arthur (Art), and sister-in-law, Kathy. He is survived by his partner of 21 years, Holly Schultheis, sister-in-law, Susan, niece Julie Wagner (Kyle), nephew Alan Strassler (Michele), and niece Kimmie Strassler (Jared) as well as grandnephew Merrick, grandniece Eden, and his beloved cat, Precious. Notably, David is also survived by the many friends and neighbors he befriended throughout his life.

A gathering to celebrate David’s life and share stories will be held at The Smithville Inn in Galloway, New Jersey on November 14, 2026 at 11:00am, followed by dispersal of David’s ashes at a location by the sea. Please dress casually, fishing tee shirts welcome!
