Obituary

David (Dave) Suban passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on May 10, at HCA Ocala Hospital at the age of 81. He was the only child on Nicolas and Dorothy (Radin) Suban. He spent his childhood moving throughout the country with his Air Force family, ultimately residing in Indiana where he graduated from East Chicago High School. He went on to earn a degree in International Relations at Ball State University. He followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Air Force shortly before marrying his wife, Beverly, in 1965. David bravely served in the Vietnam War where he earned his Bronze Star Medal. He completed his 22-year military career with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel serving as Chief Intelligence Officer for Special Operations Command at McDill AFB. After his daughter began attending the University of Florida, David developed what would become a lifelong devotion to Florida Gator football. He also treasured celebrating his Serbian heritage with his annual trek to Serb Fest in Merrillville, Indiana where many friends and family became honorary Serbs for the weekend. He found great happiness in his final hometown of The Villages, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Beverly (Blank) Suban; his daughter Lorrie (Suban) Snyder (Allan) and his granddaughter Dr. Darah (Kelley) Yuhas (Joseph). His interment will be at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military honors.
