IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Vinal
April 12, 1940 – October 8, 2024
David Lawrence Vinal, 84, passed away peacefully at home and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024. David was born in Weymouth Massachusetts on April 12th, 1940, to Raymond Gould Vinal and Thelma Mae Vinal. He grew up in Norwell Massachusetts and briefly attended Ohio Wesleyan University before entering the Army where he served a couple of years in Georgia and Alaska as an MP.
He married Eleanor Francis Horacek, and they had 3 children: Philip, Robert and Leanne. David worked for Allstate Insurance for over 20 yrs and then branched out to other jobs related to insurance or vehicles. He was an entrepreneur who started at least 3 businesses. David and the family lived mainly in Massachusetts in the towns of Pembroke, Scituate, E. Falmouth and Marstons Mills and then retired to Florida where he and his wife moved to Ocala and lived out his days with an abundance of friends and fellow church members. David was not very religious until Jesus changed his life in 1997. After that he faithfully would read his bible before bed and meet with men from his church to pray and encourage each other.
David was always a hard worker but devoted significant time and found joy in watching his children participate in many sports. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, boating, fishing and various other hobbies like coin and stamp collecting and later in life he did a bit of genealogy.
Mr. Vinal was preceded in death by his parents and his younger bother John. He is survived by his wife Eleanor and his children: Philip (Caroline), Robert (Dana) and Leanne Walley (Richard "Buddy"); his sister Susan Thomas and her two sons Christopher and Matthew; his sister-in-law; Elizabeth and her son William; grandchildren: Rebekah Clenance (Alex), Joshua, Samantha, Isaac, Adara, Gabriella and Myles: and great-grandchild Eden Clenance.
The family would like to express special thanks to David and Eleanor's neighbors and friends who supported and loved on them during his health decline. It was also a blessing to have home caregivers to assist in his last days to make his transition to eternity a bit easier.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you consider a donation to Hospice of Marion County (https://hospiceofmarion.org/). No services are planned, but if you feel inclined to share any fond memories or your condolences you can do that at this website.
