Dawn Spencer Johnson of The Villages, FL, formerly of Springfield, IL, died on January 19, 2025, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Johnson, her parents, and her brother David.
She is survived by her partner, Scott Jones and her sisters; Deanna Martin (David) and Debbie Passavage, both of Springfield; Dixie Spencer (Patty) of Lakeland, Florida. Her nephews and nieces also survive her; Brian Martin, Jeremy Martin (Teresa); Jeni Roberts; Jackie Rabacchi (Brad); Mindi Spencer Scott (Michael); Jessica Gasparini; Ashley Gasparini Gardner (Wesley) and Valerie Doporcyk (Bill). She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Dawn was born October 31, 1958 in Springfield, IL. She married Jimmy Johnson on December 13, 1986. Dawn was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed riding her horses over fences and competing in jumping classes. She and Jimmy always had numerous cats and dogs when they lived on their farm in Gettysburg, PA. She was especially fond of her standard poodle, Trevor. Dawn worked in mortgage banking for over 20 years. As a loan officer for FMHA, she wrote numerous grants to provide homes for underserved buyers. It was her passion to help those in need. She loved rock concerts and traveling, especially France and Spain. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her well.
Arrangements were made by Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, Wildwood, Florida. Honoring her request, there will be no funeral service. Her ashes will be scattered in Springfield.
