Dea Shannon King who was born at Halifax Hospital on June 8, 1970, passed away peacefully after a long ill- ness on May 6, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Shannon was a lifelong resident of Volusia County, who at- tended
Seabreeze High School. She was known for her huge heart, great love for people and animals, and for her fierce
independence. A unique character in every way, Shannon was athletic and creative and in re- cent years enjoyed herself by haunting garage sales. Shannon is survived by two children: Samantha Lee Moore, Daytona Beach and Michael Jasper Bowman, Redondo Beach, California; her mother: Carol Ann Phillips, Bunnell; her father; Jeffery Lynn King, Ormond
Beach; three sisters: Heather Michelle Dukas, Sarasota, Stephanie King Murphy, Daytona Beach, Elendea Rose King, Ormond Beach; and one brother Nolan Major King, Miami. Her stepfather Lexington Phillips of Bunnell, her stepmother Elizabeth King of Ormond Beach, hers brothers-in-law Mike Murphy and George Dukas and nieces Aisley and Sydney Dukas, are among the many she cherished. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach. In recognition of Shannon's preferred treat, please bring a jar of peanut butter to donate to Halifax Urban Ministries. The Family suggests donations to the Halifax Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
