Obituary

Deanna Ruth Morgan Carmichael was born on August 1, 1940, at Lee Memorial Hospital in FT. Myers, Florida to Burton Asro and Winston Ruby (James) Morgan. She was the second youngest of five.

Ruth first job was with McCrory's Department Store in downtown Ft. Myers making Easter baskets and then working in the record department. Ruth loved all types of music and listened to it daily.

Ruth started her 50-year career in banking with Lee County Bank in April 1958 at the age of 17, working after school until high school graduation in June for one dollar an hour to start. She finished her career with Northern Trust in 2006.

In 1957 she meet her only love, Floyd (Mike) Carmichael while he was visiting Ft. Myers White le he was on leave from the Navy base in Key West. They were married on July 12, 1959. They were married for 47 years until Mike passed away in 2006.

Husband – Floyd Neal (Mike) Carmichael, Granddaughter – Amy Lynn Carmichael, Daughter – Sandra Kay Pickett, Brother – Phillip Morgan, Sister – Sandra Kay Morgan, Sister- Norman L. (Morgan) Warhola of Amherst, OH., and Parents Burton Asro and Winston Ruby (James) Morgan.

She is survived by her son Andrew Scott Carmichael Sr. (Kathie) of Buckingham, daughter Candee L. Cordes (Robert) of Cape Coral, son-in-law Donald Pickett of Missouri, brother Charles R. Morgan of N. Ft. Myers, grandson Andrew Scott Carmichael Jr (Amber) of LaBelle, granddaughters Kayla and Taylor Pickett of LaBelle and great grandsons Marshall and Newton Carmichael of LaBelle. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousin's and a host of dear friends. All of whom she loved dearly.

Growing up in FT. Myers all of her life Ruth loved to climb trees, play with her best friend Betty, swim in Yellow Fever Creek and fish with her mama, daddy, sister and brothers. She took tap dance lessons as a young girl. She later played tennis and was a member of the Glee Club in high school. Ruth loved to ride in the woods with Mike in their Jeep. She enjoyed attending 4-H events of her grandchildren. At a very young age Ruth was given the nickname "Rooster", and that was the cause of her collection of roosters in later years.

Ruth faithfully worked the News Press cross word puzzle daily until her passing. She loved playing cards with her dear friends and family along with board games and jigsaw puzzle.

Ruth inherited her green thumb from her mother. She could grow rocks if she put her mind to it. Ruth really enjoyed puttering around in her yard.

Ruth was a character; her personality and humor were contagious and infectious. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
