Dennis Daniel Higginbotham, 83, passed away on October 22, 2024. Dennis was born in Long Island, NY on August 13, 1941. He was raised in Birmingham, AL and attended Ensley High School and then Auburn University. As a teenager, Dennis worked for Drennan Cadillac and grew his passion for cars. After college, he went to work for General Motor's Chevrolet Division where he had the distinction of being the youngest Senior Executive for GM. He purchased his first dealership in 1976 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and enjoyed six decades of being an automobile dealership owner and car collector. Dennis brought up his children in the family business and enjoyed working with them.

While living in New Smyrna Beach, he enjoyed his service as Chairman of the Utilities Commission, board service to Stetson University, Barnett Bank and First Florida Bank, and served on the Florida State Board of Administration's Investment Advisory Council. Dennis was an enthusiastic supporter of the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Dennis attended Edgewater Alliance Church and supported Oak Hill Recovery Church. Dennis also enjoyed supporting the Arts in New Smyrna Beach including the Hub on Canal and Jane's and Images, a Festival of the Arts.

Dennis is survived by Anne, his wife of 55 years, children, Trudy (Ed) Moody of Flora, Mississippi, and Wallis Higginbotham of New Smyrna Beach. Dennis has five grandchildren- Anne, Christine and Hayden Moody and Finley and Reagan Higginbotham.

Private services for immediate family will be held.
