Dennis Keihn's Obituary

Dennis Keihn, age 74, of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday morning.  Dennis was born in New Castle, Indiana th son of Joseph and Eleanor (Tiefenthaler) Keihn.    He retired from a successful career in University coaching, athletic administration and fundraising.   He coached basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, and baseball earning several Coach of the Year awards   He was an Athletic Director at NAIA, NJCAA and Division I, II and III universities in Indiana, Minnesota, California and Illinois.  He also was a Commissioner of Athletics for the University of Wisconsin System (22 Colleges and Universities).  He served on numerous NCAA Committees and has had several athletic publications.  His community service involved the Boy Scouts, the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and several years as church congregation President.  He earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State University and his master's and doctorate degrees from Indiana University.  After his retirement, Dennis taught K-8 physical education classes and was a substitute teacher for Green Bay Public Schools.  He is survived by his wife Sue, three children, and three grandchildren and one brother.  He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, and one grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday January 19 th at Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL  32162.   Memorial donations can be made to the Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Keihn Memorial Scholarship Fund, https://secure.qgiv.com/for/uowgb/ at 2420 Nicolet Dr., CL805, Green Bay, WI 54311.  The family would like to thank the staff at Harbor Chase in Wildwood as well as Cornerstone Hospice.
