Dennis Song Yun, age 77, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, in Ocala, FL, after being hospitalized for a brief illness.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, to Jen and Marina (Chiang) Yun on August 8, 1949, he resided with his family in Taipei until April of 1963 when he along with his mother and two brothers sailed to New York, where his father met them and drove them to Columbus, Ohio, to live. Dennis graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1967, and attended The Ohio State University where he received a B.S. degree in Mathematics in 1971 and an M.S. degree in Computer Science in 1972. He also received an MBA in 1975 from Capital University in Columbus. Dennis became a naturalized US citizen in 1971.

Dennis spent his career working in Columbus, beginning with the State of Ohio Public Utilities Commission, followed by 25 years working for Battelle Memorial Institute, and ending at Excel Management Systems. After his retirement, he began spending time in FL and eventually became a FL resident. Dennis was known for his outgoing, friendly, cheerful, and fun personality and never met a stranger. He enjoyed gardening, biking, golfing, and cooking. In his younger years he enjoyed woodworking and had a lifelong passion for collecting antiques and unique hand-crafted objects of all types and periods. He had an affinity for water and loved swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. He loved to travel, spending many years ocean cruising with his wife, his sons, and the families of his father and brothers. He also went on many land excursions, including returning to Taiwan on trips with his family during which they located his childhood home.

Dennis is survived by his wife Susan (Knecht) Yun; his sons Jason (Katie) and Jesse (Fiona); granddaughters Avani, Spencer, and Navina; grandson Payton; brothers David (Roselyn) and Tyron (Jackie); father-in-law Carroll Knecht; sisters-in-law Beth (Jim) Trowbridge, Mary (Chris) Bull, Debbie (Charlie) McQuiniff, Becky (Phil) Fogarty, and Cindy (Mike) Fraley; brothers-in-law Joe and Dan (Michelle) Knecht; stepsister Ning Ning Lee; stepbrother Ray (Judy) Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends in OH and FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Ruth (Wright) Knecht; brother-in-law Steve Knecht; stepmother Suzie (Sun) Yun and stepbrother Richard Lee. At his request, no funeral or memorial services will be held.
