Diana Robin McChesnie, known as Diane, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on April 24, 2026, after a long illness. She was born Diana Robin Moody on September 8, 1953, in Miami, Florida, to the late Joan Freeman Moody and Harold Jack Moody.
As a child, Diane moved with her family to North Carolina, where she attended Terry Sanford Senior High School in Fayetteville and later Garinger High School in Charlotte, graduating in 1971. She pursued higher education at Appalachian State University in North Carolina before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Florida International University in 1995. In 2008, she furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
In 1979, Diane married John William McChesnie. Together they had a son, Robert Shane McChesnie, who predeceased her. Early in her career, Diane worked as a dental ceramist in California and later in life transitioned to teaching mathematics in Deland, Florida. Diane loved outdoor activities, including sports, gardening, and landscape photography. She was known for her soft voice, kindness, and special affinity for young children. She is survived by granddaughters Mikayla Dawn McChesnie, Riley Rain Blake, and Reagan Emma Blake; her two sisters, Bonnie Moody Ennis and Sharon Louise Moody and her husband Kenneth A. Kent; as well as nieces Tracy Ennis Greenberg, Lisa Ennis Wallace, and Audrey Rachel Kent, also known as Action Sparks; nephews Daryl Edward Ghent and Michael Todd Ennis; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Diane’s gentle soul will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers are private. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
