Diane Grace
Snellgrose
August 5, 1940 – April 9, 2026
Diane Grace (Hoger) Snellgrose, 85, formerly of Paw Paw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at her home in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Diane was born on August 5, 1940, in Paw Paw, Michigan, to Wayne and Harriet (Wiersba) Hoger. She was a proud graduate of Paw Paw High School, Class of 1958. During her high school years, Diane was deeply involved in student life, serving as President of the Thespian Club, Choir President, and Vice President of her senior class. She was also a cheerleader and participated in many other activities. She cherished these memories and often spoke of them fondly.
On May 5, 1962, she married Harold Wayne Snellgrose in Paw Paw. They shared 49 years of marriage until Harold’s passing in 2011.
Diane worked for the Division of Forestry in Naples and Fort Myers, Florida, for over a decade. She began as a fire tower lookout and later became a dispatcher. During her time there, she proudly portrayed Smokey the Bear at local school events and fundraisers, helping to promote fire safety. One of her favorite memories included riding in a helicopter while in costume. She loved every minute of it, despite the Florida heat and the costume’s weight.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Bonnie Lou Farmer; her brothers, David Hoger and Arthur “AJ” Hoger; and her grandson, Cameron Wayne Snellgrose.
Diane is survived by her children: Jeff (Myra) Nisbet of St. Petersburg, Florida; Tim Snellgrose of Naples, Florida; Hal (Karen) Snellgrose of Carmel, California; and Jill (Chuck) Mullins of North Fort Myers, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica Wright of Tampa, Florida; Adam (Lauren) Snellgrose of Naples, Florida; Heather (Christopher) King of Cocoa, Florida; Madison Snellgrose of Carmel Valley, California; Allison (Sam) Mullins of Cape Coral, Florida; and Lindsay (Jake) Mullins of Marcellus, Michigan; along with six great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to VITAS Healthcare for the compassionate care provided to Diane. The dedication of her care team, especially her nurse, meant so much to the family and created bonds that will not be forgotten.
No formal funeral service will be held. A small gathering to celebrate Diane’s life will take place in Paw Paw, Michigan, in June. Details will be shared on Facebook once arrangements are finalized.
