Diane Davich Thurbon, 80, of Winter Park, passed away on September 5, 2026.

Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on December 17, 1945, to Michael and Irene Davich, Diane moved with her family to Winter Park at the age of 12. She was the eldest of three children and a loving big sister to her brothers, Douglas and David. Diane was accomplished in ballet and danced through junior and senior high school with the Royal School of Dance. She was a graduate of Winter Park High School and the University of Florida, where she was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and remained close to many of her DG sisters sixty years later.

Diane was married to Earl Reid Thurbon for more than twenty-five years. Through the first half of their marriage, while Reid carried the Villager and later the Jones New York lines, Diane ran a sample clothing business out of their home bringing in a new line five times a year with each season. Her sales became something her friends genuinely looked forward to - part shopping event, part social gathering, and always filled with Diane’s warmth and personality. She went on to a solid and respected career in the real estate appraisal profession, serving her clients and business associates with dedication, integrity, and genuine respect.

She was a member of the Junior League of Greater Orlando and a long-time member of the Country Club of Orlando. The love of ballet she found as a girl stayed with her for life: she was a supporter of Southern Ballet Theatre, now the Orlando Ballet, and had a lasting appreciation for beauty and the arts.

Diane lived with passion, conviction, and loyalty, and above all with an extraordinary love for her family. She loved deeply and was fiercely loyal. If Diane considered you a friend, you had a true friend. She valued the friendships she made throughout her life and cared deeply for the people who came into her world.

She is survived by her heartbroken daughters, Kristen Tight (Thomas) and Courtney Morin (Chad), and by her brother, David Davich (Sherry). To her daughters she was simply the best mom in the world: selfless to a fault, kind, endlessly patient, and overflowing with a love that never needed grand gestures to be felt.

But if one thing lit up her entire world, it was her four grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.” Tommy, Michael, Catherine, and Caroline were her pride, her joy, her reason for getting up smiling every single day. Watching her with them was watching pure magic: the way her eyes sparkled when they ran to her, the endless patience for their stories and games, the pride in her voice when she talked about their latest accomplishments. They were her life, and she was theirs.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Irene Davich, and her brother, Douglas Davich (Anita).

Diane gave us the greatest gift of all: a lifetime of love that asked for nothing in return.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomas Center at All Saints Episcopal Church, 338 E. Lyman Avenue, Winter Park, Florida, with a reception to follow at the Alfond Inn.
