Obituary

Donald Albert Deperto, 89 of Ocala Florida, entered into rest on April 13, 2025. Born on October 17, 1935, in Buffalo NY, to loving parents, Charles and Agnes (Acierno) Deperto, Don was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, partner, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his adored wife, Laura (Ferro) Deperto, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage. Later in his life, he found companionship and love again with his fiancé Barbara Tell, who remained by his side for 22 years. Don was known for his kindness, easy going nature, sense of humor, positivity, and wisdom. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Don retired from Ford Motor Company with 40 years of service where he was admired for his dedication and work ethic. Throughout his lifetime, he was a talented athlete in various sports, such as hockey, baseball, bowling, and golf. He enjoyed coaching women's softball and instructing youth golf lessons. Don was an avid and loyal sports fan for his hometown teams such as, the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bills, and New York Yankees. He also enjoyed watching sporting events such as the PGA Tour and Nascar Cup Series. Don especially cherished time spent with his family in Ocala and Buffalo.

Don was a loving father to his four sons, Donald C. Deperto, Dino Deperto, Darin (Allison) Deperto, Daniel Deperto; his two daughters, late Denene Deperto, and Deanna (Carmen) Polito; dearest grandfather to 8 grandchildren: Jessica, Darrick, Nicholas, Chelsea, Drew Deperto, Gregery Schmidt, and Juliana and Maddalena Polito; beloved great grandfather to 2 great grandchildren, Chloe Drabek, and Luca Chilton; dear brother to Ronald (late Arlene) Deperto; and Karen (late Robert) Nagel; brother-in-law to Jack (Jan) Ferro, Rosemarie Czarnecki, Geraldine (Fred) Kawa, the late Arnold (Sue) Ferro, late Theresa (late Joseph) Pietras, late William (Pauline) Ferro, and late Elaine (late Harold) Johnson; Don was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Sat, May 17, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John Paul II parish at 2052 Lakeview Rd., Lakeview, NY. A Celebration of Life brunch will follow mass at Michael's banquet facility, 4885 Southwestern Blvd, Hamburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County in Don's memory. He will be missed dearly and remembered always for the love he gave and the life he led.
