IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Detrow
July 26, 1944 – October 19, 2024
Donald Lee Detrow (Don) , age 80, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in The Villages, Florida. Born on July 26, 1944 in Hagerstown, Maryland to Carol Detrow and Florence Nave, Don lived a life filled with dedication, humor, and a love for family, country, and sports.
Don proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his life with values of resilience and loyalty. He carried his Navy pride with him long after his service, embodying the strength and integrity he learned there in everything he did.
A true sports lover, Don had a passion for all sports—whether he was cheering for his beloved Washington Redskins, enjoying a hockey game, or following college football. But his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play, standing on the sidelines, he was their biggest fan, quietly cheering them on with a sense of pride that only grew with every game. He was their biggest fan, always wanting to be there with encouragement, whether it was a football game or wrestling, or any other sport they participated.
Don was also known for his quiet sense of humor that brought warmth and smiles to those around him. With a subtle joke or a well-timed comment, he had a way of lightening the mood and making others feel at ease. He was a loving father and grandfather, whose gentle humor and kind heart made him a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Detrow and Scott Detrow and his daughter, Kelly Esteppe and son in law, Wayne Esteppe, and his 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Joshua and Elijah Domino.
Though he may no longer be here to share his humor or cheer from the sidelines, his gentle spirit, laughter, and love for the game will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
