Donald Stanley
Kuzmickas Sr.
May 9, 1937 – May 26, 2026
Donald Stanley Kuzmickas, Sr. passed away on May 26, 2026, which was also the 8th anniversary of his marriage to his beloved wife, Mariann Cardello. Don was preceded in passing by his father, Stanley Kuzmickas; mother, Violet Utaras Kuzmickas; and his sister, Barbara Lapp.
Don leaves behind his son, Barry (Laura); daughter, Donna (Rick) Klotz; and son, Robert (Lynda), from their mother, Carol. He also leaves his stepson, Mel (Robin) Miller; son, Donald Jr.; and daughter, Judy, from their late mother, Joyce. Don also left behind his stepdaughter, Kathy (Dave) Zagar; and was preceded by his stepson, George "John" (Valerie) Hennigan, from his late wife, Treasure.
Don was the uncle to Sandy (Jim) Lindsey and Randy (Diane) Patrick. Don also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He left behind many friends in Florida and Ohio.
Don was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from high school in 1954. Shortly after he moved to Cleveland, Ohio with his family, Don served eight years in the Ohio National Guard.
Don was a multi-instrumentalist and singer. While he could play the accordion, piano, and bass, his favorite instrument was the tenor sax. Don played in bands from his late teens through his late thirties before his career path led him to several moves across the country.
Don worked in the transportation industry for most of his adult working life. The bulk of his career was working for Terminal Freight, which was the transportation arm of Sears, Roebuck and Company. As a management executive with Sears, he moved where he was needed. He worked in Cleveland, Ohio, Columbus, Ohio (3 times), Chicago, Illinois (twice), Jacksonville, Florida, and Fullerton, California.
Once Don retired to Pinellas Park, Florida, he resumed his love of music and frequently entertained around the area in various groups until his health no longer permitted.
Don had a great personality; he lit up any room he was in. He was welcoming to all and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Since his family was blended, Don told his children not to worry about spending the traditional holidays with him, but rather spend them with all of their own extended families. Instead, he reserved Labor Day weekend for everyone to gather with him, which they did for over 20 years before his move to Florida. In recognition of that, a Celebration of Life will be held for Don on Monday, September 7, 2026, Labor Day. His family members will reach out with details.
