Obituary

Don Nash, age 84, of Palo Alto, The Villages passed away on June 23rd at the Ted & Diane Brandley Hospice House.  Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Don graduated from Canton Schools in Mable, MN.  Don served honorably in the US Army Infantry during the Korean war, earning several commendations including the Bronze Star Medal.  He attended Luther College and Dunwoody Technical College, eventually living and working as an electrician for many years in the Iowa City area.  Don and his beloved bride of 55 years, Maurine O. (Ruiter) Nash built a beautiful life together on their acreage in Solon, Iowa; serving the Lord together as they raised two children, ran a small business and tended a large garden. Don carried on his family farming legacy by caring for a small herd of cattle and raising horses and other animals.

Don loved the life of the Villages.  For the past 20 years he enjoyed with many dear friends the activities of pickleball, golf, running, square dancing, German club and card games.  He loved gospel music and he and Maurine attended many concerts and shows, even traveling out of state to listen to great music.   Don was a member of the First Baptist Church At The Villages where he loved to serve as an usher welcoming the people.

Don was a most devoted family man.  He is survived by his wife, Maurine, son Jay Nash of San Antonio, TX, daughter Janelle Graham, son-in-law Rob Graham and grandsons Trevor and Garrett Graham all of Rosemount, MN.  He leaves behind his brother Arthur (Linda)Nash of Fort Madison, Iowa, sister Gwen (JC) Tangen of Arizona, loving nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.

Friends and Family will celebrate the life of Don Nash at the First Baptist Church At The Villages, 16523 SE 76th Chatham Ave., The Villages, FL, 32162, at 10:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2018.  Interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your kind thoughts and prayers.
