Donald K., age 86, of Ormond Beach, Fl passed away at his home, Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
He was born on March 30, 1932, to Hazel A. and Guiseppe Strataco (Stago) in Harrisburg, PA. Don graduated from Cumberland High School in 1950. He worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light for 6 years. He moved to Florida in 1957, where he was employed by Florida Power and Light for 36 years, retiring in 1993. At the time of his retirement, Don worked in the Daytona District as a Customer Service Analyst for FPL's Watt-Wise Plus Program.
Don was baptized by the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1960, faithfully serving for many years. He was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Hand Ave, Ormond Beach. He was a talented carpenter and participated in the construction of the Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Tomoka Farms Road, Daytona Beach.
In his younger years Don Loved boating, fishing, shrimping, playing his trumpet, being outdoors and working with his hands. He was very social and was loved and respected by all who knew him. As he grew older, he looked forward to family times and was always dedicated to the well-being of his family. He was the "Rock" of our family and cannot be replaced.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 26 years, Pauline Belcher Stago; sister-in-law, Delores Stago; son Donald Stago, Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. Gail (Mike) Childs; Mrs. Debbie (Ken) McConkey; Mrs. Cheryl (Jim) Hanlon; daughter-in-law, Tara Stago; son, David Stago and Fiance, Amy; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Karen (John) Skinner. Don also had 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 2 step great- grandchildren.
Don is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Samuel Stago; and son, Joseph "Joe" Stago.
A Memorial service to honor Don will be held Monday, January 28 th at 2 PM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 801 Hand Ave., Ormond Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Church or to Volusia/Flagler Hospice.
